As the largest acute tertiary general hospital in Singapore, SGH also serves as the largest teaching hospital and main training ground for medical, nursing and allied health professionals.

SGH offers a comprehensive range of training opportunities for healthcare professionals in various fields and at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Training is available, not only in clinical specialities, but also for allied health disciplines and administration. Local scholarships are also available for sponsored courses at the Nanyang Polytechnic.

SGH is the first and only local hospital with its own Postgraduate Medical Institute, Alice Lee  Institute of Advanced Nursing and Postgraduate Allied Health Institute. These institutes offer postgraduate training and continuing medical education for doctors and nurses, both in Singapore and the region. The Hospital also trains a large number of paramedical professionals, such as nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and technicians from the Nanyang Polytechnic and other hospitals and institutions in Singapore and ASEAN.

SGH also works closely with industrial partners by offering immersion programmes that provide participants an in-depth perspective of hospital systems as well as feedback on the hospital equipment they supply. The immersion programmes are an ideal opportunity for the hospital and its partners to promote better healthcare service for our patients.
