Hematolymphoid Pathology Course 2011

Date: 31Oct-3 Nov 2011
Venue: Department of Pathology Singapore General Hospital
Course Directors: Dr Soo-Yong Tan, Dr Leonard Tan
Invited Experts: Dr Kevin Gatter, Dr Elaine Jaffe

About the course:

The inaugural SGH Lymphoma Course aims to integrate didactic lectures with a microscopic session that incorporates histopathology, immunohistochemistry, as well as results of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and clonality analysis by PCR. Since techniques like immunohistochemistry and interphase FISH are almost indispensable in the practice of lymphoma pathology, a hands-on wet workshop is included. There will be ample opportunities to review and discuss with the faculty a wide range of cases drawn from our archives. Lecture handouts and DVDs of cases will be distributed to participants.

Who should attend:

Practising pathologists, pathology fellows and residents, and clinicians managing haematolymphoid neoplasms.

About our Invited Experts:

Dr Kevin Gatter is Professor of Pathology and Head of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at Oxford University, United Kingdom. He is also Honorary Director CRUK Tumour Pathology Group and Fellow of St. John's College, Oxford. An acknowledged world authority in lymphoid pathology, Dr Gatter has published more than 450 refereed papers on lymphoma, tumour diagnosis and immunocytochemistry; as well as authored several books on lymphoma and bone marrow pathology.
